Overview:
There is a theory that in order to defeat an opponent you must face them in their own field.
If you simply obliterate their forces there are always voices that say "we could of won if
we just had matching forces." And thus we sometimes find the need to hold back our decisive
advantage in Aerospace and Artillery and take to the field to give a more personal
experience on the virtues of not fighting.
Capabilities:
Not that we have any intention of playing fair. While the use of VTOLs covers the roll of
very fast mechs, for simply fast mechs ranging from standard tech lights to high tech
medium mechs, our platform of choice is the Snuggle Rabit. Weighting considerably more then
most units in its maneuverability envelope, the Snuggle Rabit fills out the rolls of Heavy
Scout, Skirmisher, and Striker.
Getting an assault mech to fit into those rolls requires s considerable investment in
tonnage and equipment, nearly 40% of the mass on a normal configuration is devoted to
mobility. But in the end the Snuggle Rabit has a jump capability that let's it keep up with
all but the fastest of mechs. And even then it's still an assault mech. It carries a
greater mass of guns then some of the light mechs it would be expected to spar against.
It's armor combined with its mobility makes it an extremely tough nut to crack for most
regular forces.
Deployment:
Deployment of Snuggle Rabits is interesting. They're rarely found in defensive forces.
Expense and doctrine make that contra-indicated. Offensively it's not common with war
fleets. A few exist but its rare to find a case where its speed is needed but overwhelming
firepower is not. It's fleets assigned "diplomatic" missions that will see use of Snuggle
Rabits. As described earlier, sometimes you have to let the other guy know they've been in
a fight before you can be friends.
Variants:
It's an Omnimech. Most configurations tend towards improved jump jets for maximum mobility.
A few will Down shift to standard jump jets in favor of greater weapons payload. And
things have gone horribly wrong if there are no Jump jets. At that point why aren't you
using a Drudge?
Notable MechWarriors:
Note: No more contests that let 8-year olds pick the name of our very serious military
equipment.
