Maybe not as effective as the clan one, but I wouldn’t really call it bad.

If mounted on a vehicle, the regular system is probably better, since you don’t have to worry about any possible extra heat sinks and/or power amplifiers.
Then again, if it’s your only energy weapon or any additional ones just consume what heat sinks come in a fusion core, who cares about that?
On a ‘Mech or aerospace fighter or DropShip/WarShip, heat sinks are likely less of a concern. In this case, the LAMS is probably the better choice.
But, YMMV.
