Overview:
With the success of the Mad Dog IV, Clan Sea Fox turned to other older omnimech designs with
the intent of generating profit from both sales to Spheroids and trades with other clans.
Settling on the old and reliable Summoner chassis as the basis for the new omnimech, the
scientist caste went to work. Utilizing the same communications, targeting and tracking, and
engine as the original Summoner, the project replaced the chassis with a licensed version of
the Grand Summoner's endosteel frame through a trial of possession for those rights. Taking
the same successful Ferro-Lammelor armor from the well selling Mad Dog Mk IV for protection,
the project was able to mount 13 tons onto the design without compromising the original
tonnage for omnipods. Not fixing jump jets freed up more tonnage for more weapons if wished,
and fourteen clan double heat sinks matched the original. The 'Thor Mk III' was quickly
tested by various Sea Fox warriors and deemed acceptable for service, with pilots
appreciative of its mobility and superior protection to the original design. While sold as
the Thor Mk III to Inner Sphere buyers, to avoid confusion (and potentially angry Clan Jade
Falcon mechwarriors) the design is officially known as the 'Invoker' in clan service.
With a total of twenty seven and a half tons of podspace, the Invoker is also just barely
cheaper to manufacture than the original Summoner, due to reuse of already existing engine
manufacturing lines and streamlined endosteel and armor production at SFF-TU1.
