Variants:
Taking the concept of the “Anvil” version of the Pillager to an even greater level, the
PLG-4X-2 replaces the Long Tom artillery cannons with a pair of Sniper artillery pieces.
These guns are fed by four tons of munitions, allowing loadouts of differing munition-types.
However, due to the massive nature of these artillery pieces, and the fact that jump jets
were added back to the design to allow the BattleMech to make leaps up to 90 meters at a
time, no further physical room or tonnage is available for backup weapons. The small cockpit
was also changed back to a standard cockpit, which contributed to this one downside. The
lack of backup weapons does alleviate the heat issues on the design, so 11 double heat sinks
keeps the machine comfortably cool during the heaviest bombardments. The tonnage freed by
the changes has therefore been used for more armor, allowing nearly the maximum payload.
