Well, one of my childhood fantasies came true tonight. I had purchased 3 tickets for the Red Sox game this evening from my work, which bought 250 or so at a group rate.
I took Jadira and my 4 year old, Marcelle and we arrived at the ballpark around 4:30 for the 6:00 game. Getting early is fun sometimes, especially when you got a kid in tow.
Anyways, when we went though the gate, a red sox marketing person asked us if we would like to help the Red Sox out by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch! After looking stupid and asking the girl what she wanted us to do again, the shock wore off and I said yes.
So, now I have a nice ball with the writing:
Fenway Park
Ceremonial First Pitch
May 1, 2003
along with a very nice photograph of us standing on the infield grass. I let Marcelle throw the ball and he threw a near strike to the bat girl who was catching. The 10,000 or so people who were there at the time cheered quite loudly.
Well, I can now check that one of the list, and Marcelle will have something to tell all his friends about as he grows older.

That is too cool. I hope there's pictures, or maybe video. Marcelle will have great memories of that, I'm sure.

No video. The whole fam was watching because we called them on the cell phone once we found out. We were hoping they'd show it on the pregame show, but they never did. Oh well, we've got the ball and the picture to prove we did it.

I sent an e-mail to NESN and will probably try calling them if I don't hear back in e-mail. NESN does the game broadcasts, so they would probably have that.

But how many people can say they have seen a piece of Baseball history? I was there when David Cone there his Perfect Game.
