Like I'm destined for roadkill? I've already been hit by two cars, a truck, and drug by a train ... I'm far too ornery to go down that easily.
I've been piddling around at work, mainly, and getting settled in to my house ... living alone is *way* scary, and I've only been doing it for three weeks, now. Bee trying to catch up on old haunts and such, to get some stability back in my life. Four legs need balance, you know?
If I can ever get my Digicam working, I'll show y'all the Closet of Doom, and teh huge pile of Battletech and other gaming foo to be found within. Truly a frightening thing once I finally pulled it all out of a million cubbyholes and combined it in one spot. D&D stuff alone probably runs over $20,000! Crazyness!
I'm also trying to start collecting some of teh older Btech stuff that I don't have, but I don't actually know what all existed anymore. There were a bunch of mercenary books that I know I never got (Sorenson's Sabres, etc), but at least I have digital copies of most of teh House books, finally. Mmmm, Cappellan goodness.
Good to hear that so many of you are doing well! Seems like quite a few of you graduated up from fan status to actual workfoo. Color me jealous! Werner, Ruger ... I have good faith in how things will be progressing, yes indeedy.
As few the new people (We have new people, yayy!), howdy-do! I'll take a bowl of water and some grazy-topped doggiefood, if'n you don't mind.
Mmmm, gravy...

It's hard enough as it is to teach old dogs new tricks when you have to teach them ones they already know
*Thinks that if it was common knowledge about Old Dog's collection of gaming material that he would not be so much alone*

Trust me...I don't want to know how much I've spent on RPG stuff, comics and anime...much of which was in the past 5 years alone...

For some of the older books, you can always try out bidding for them at Gamer's Union...now that my collection is nearly complete for BTech (primarily just the House Marik, Star League and 1st Ed. Periphery books to go, with Clan Troops and a couple scenario books on the side), I just been giving Ed money for MWDA stuff...although I may have to start getting more CBT minis from him as well...

Or there's my method of buying as many Nestle bars as I can to get at the RocketCash codes inside them.

Let me put it this way Kraken...7 or 8 years ago, I had no anime, and the only BTech I had was the 3025 and 3050 TROs, the BTech Compendium: Rules of Warfare and the Tactical Handbook...
I now have some few hundred anime DVDs and VHS tapes, more than 50 anime soundtracks (most are imports, not domestic), 30+ wall scrolls, many dozen posters, models, several dozen books, and many, many manga books...my BTech collection now has almost ALL of the sourcebooks ever published, all the novels save The Sword and the Dagger, and at least one (if not more) of almost all the minis (prior to those released in the past few months anyways)...and a MWDA collection that is nearly 70 'Mechs strong, plus other forces (some were singles, admittedly, but less than one-quarter I think)...
For D&D...I have dozens of sourcebooks and boxed sets from many different campaign settings...
Add to this about 5,000+ comics collected over many years...and a novel collection that is several hundred strong and growing...
Like I said, I don't want to think about how much money went into this...

The year before I got married I spent $7,500 on comics, sportscards, and gaming stuff...when you figure that I got a 50% discount off of retail on most of that because I worked at the store you can see how quickly it could mount up

Note I said the year before.
I don't spend anywhere near that now...might be well under $500 a year now

How many boxes of comics is that???
I have about $7,500 in Comics(and soon to grow), $1,000 in cards, and about $5,000 in gamming stuff.
That includes 1st, 2nd and 3rd edition D&D, traveller, Palladium and others you probably never heard of. I have about 5 8'x4' in books. 95% read....
I'm glad I'm not alone....

I have 45 full-size comic boxes full of comics...it was many more but I thinned out my collection awhile back.
My card collection is fairly vast...I have complete Topps baseball sets all the way back thru 1968 (excepting 1969, I need the Reggie rookie for that set) and have almost complete sets for every year back to 50 Bowman.
Games? I have so many I have stuff sitting in my game room still in shrink wrap...that doesn't count all the stuff in storage at my Mother's house
Yeah, I know, I spent far too much money when I was younger

Of course, my dad only paid about 30 or 40 cents for all three combined...Not to mention all his...er, mine now...Classics Illustrateds, old Tarzan, Airboy (now that was a great comic), etc....

Unfortunately they have sold that house and everything in it when to the Garage sale... Even my original Pong game... It what complete.. I was out to sea when they moved so I couldn't get there to get the stuff I wanted to keep....
