I think this is my first custom-made Omni.


EDIT: What once was many, has now become one. I also added a variant.

==Overview:==
The Maverick Omnimech was designed as a tough and mobile heavy, one capable of
performing any role on the battlefied, from missile bombardment to front-line
duty, from barrage vehicle to urban combat specialist.

==Capabilities:==
The base Maverick chassis comes standard with a Kallon Sure-Shot C3 slave,
ensuring that "the 'mech plays well with others", as one designer put it.

The Prime Variant is, predictably, a front-line skirmisher, mounting a variety
of energy weaponry at multiple ranges, with a streak-4 missile rack for close
engagements.

A Variant is a mobile missile battery, carrying an LRM-20 and a pair of SRM-4s
for primary weapons, twin Medium Lasers as fallback weapons, and a 10-shot
Rocket Launcher as what one mechwarrior called, "a Hail Mary weapon".

B Variant is a barrage 'mech, carrying one of the new Rotary Autocannon and an
Extended-Range PPC for power, and twin Medium Lasers as backup.

C Variant is specialized in close-quarters fighting, with a sub-specialty as
an anti-infantry 'mech. Carrying a massive LB-20X autocannon, backed by a pair
each of Medium Lasers and Flamers, the C Variant is terrifying up close.

D Variant is probably the most specialized of the common variants. Intended as
a mobile Flak battery, the D mounts a pair of LB-5X autocannon, along with a
trio of Extended-Range Medium Lasers.

To begin: I recall seeing, at least once, likely twice, Mordel and/or chihawk specifically state their strong desire that Omni variants all be done in a single post. This is why I did my Werewolf like that, for example.

That said. The 'Mech's not bad. No XL to complain about (not that XLs are always bad), and no FUBARed configurations like the Strider C (?), with the double Narc. A little slow, but more speed wouldn't be worth it in my estimation, through either XL or pod space loss. Actually, I like it better than any of the (few) OmniMechs I've tried to design. Not a complaint, but they're marked as being standard designs, instead of custom - I always forget to change that too.

I'll forgive the fixed equipment. Just like the Avatar's medium lasers, it's hard to go wrong with the C3.

The configurations are solid. They pack good firepower for 60 tons. They're heat efficient too; the Prime is nicely bracketed, with PPC/ERLL/movement, and everything else. I particularly like the Prime and C. The Prime is a nice energy boat, which I like. The C - well, it's hard to go wrong with the LB20-X, although the C comes very close to insufficient back up weapons. Perhaps only a single flamer?

The only real question is the B config. Why the RL?

As for the multiple posts, I wanted a way to break up the variants, other than drawing a
__________________________________ line between them. The pre/pre function removes all spaces between its own ending and whatever comes after it, and my eyes get confused trying to scroll through a post, picking out multiple 'mechs.

Sorry. I sort of meant, "Why not an ER small?" I've just always despised RLs on 'Mechs. (And I'm not alone.) Perhaps you've read some of my TRO reviews on the matter?

Are you using pre around each individual config? If you use a < pre > at the start of your post, and a < /pre > at the end of your post (two total for the entire Omni), it works perfectly. I separated my Werewolf with two or three newlines, for example. The whole point of pre is that it maintains (preserves?) formatting (spaces) which the forum removes. It's not pre that gets rid of spaces between pre tags - it's the standard forum formatting.

You'll do it how you like, of course. I was just relaying what they said.

==Overview:==
    Code-named the Dasher by the Royal KungsArmé because of its incredible
bursts of speed, this \'Mech is unlike any ever produced in the Inner Sphere,
during the Star League era or since. It carries a load of weapons that is
ample for a light \'Mech produced in the Inner Sphere, despite being smaller
than any other Clan \'Mech yet seen in the field. An excellent reconnaissance
\'Mech because of its quick pace, the Dasher can get out of a tight spot by
engaging its Myomer Accelerator Signal Circuitry. Its armor is thin, but the
Dasher is so fast that it is difficult to hit.

==Capabilities:==
    In its primary configuration, the Dasher can give a good account of itself
against light \'Mechs of the Inner Sphere. Its exceptional speed allows it to
get into close range regardless of its opponent\'s actions, and use its
short-range missiles and medium lasers to good effect. If facing a larger
enemy, the Dasher simply retreats to friendly lines, leaving its foe far
behind. Another popular tactic is for the Dasher to race to the enemy\'s rear,
cutting down opposing \'Mechs before they can respond. This has worked out
badly on occasion, primarily because of the Rasalhagian practice of forming
lances into a column. On several occasions, a Dasher has sped around a light
\'Mech, only to be cut down by a medium \'Mech following several hundred meters
behind.
    Alternate Configuration A has been seen only on rare occasions, but has
been used to devastating effect. This configuration uses its Beagle active
probe to locate hidden enemy positions and its target-acquisition gear to rain
down flights of Arrow IV missiles from other members of its Cluster many
kilometers away. It uses its Streak short-range missiles and anti-missile
system to hold its place on the battlefield for as long as possible, then
returns to the supporting \'Mechs in its unit with amazing speed.
    Using its Guardian electronic countermeasures to protect its Starmates, a
Dasher equipped with Alternate Configuration B leads a force into an enemy
city or other built-up area where hostilities are expected. Its medium pulse
lasers and machine gun can swiftly destroy enemy infantry, and the A-pod helps
keep sappers off the \'Mech\'s legs.
    In Alternate Configuration C, the Dasher performs long-range fire support,
a role for which it is not particularly well-suited. Though it carries double
LRM-5 launchers and an anti-missile system to protect itself from return fire,
it cannot carry nearly as many weapons as other Clan designs. However, no
\'Mech can fall back to a new position as quickly as the Dasher.
    When the Clans expect to mix it up with other \'Mechs and have no other
concern, they equip the Dasher with Alternate Configuration D. Though this
variant occasionally has a problem with heat build-up, it can deliver an
accurate and deadly hail of laser fire at opposing \'Mechs.


==Deployment==
    The Dasher is one of the less common Clan designs, not in general use
because of the specialized roles it plays. It is seen most frequently among
the forces of Clan Ghost Bear, who favor it over other reconnaissance \'Mechs.

Well, the Mavericks are up in the TRO section (along with many other designs that I hope will be reviewed and rated soon), but there is a problem: While tweaking the designs, I forgot the update the fluff. For example, the fluff on the A variant says that it carries a one-shot Rocket Launcher. However, I replaced that with an ER Small Laser, which is what's shown on the TRO.

Not particularly important, but I didn't want anyone to get confused.
