What a f---in' joke that is.

That team could end up being 10-3 this season. WTF do they want?

I don't think the teams record or the fans opinion had anything to do with it. The players just don't respond to him, let alone like him. Combine that with the fact that he refuses to rotate players, a good example is the KSU game, NU was down something like 40-7 and Solich kept Jamal Lord in the entire game, he didn't even give the new guy a chance to play.

We are talking Nebraska here, not some pansy NE university that fields a high school team. Cornhusker football is a religion. They are not in the hunt for the national title. My alma mater, OU, no longer fears and preps for the game like the past. So for Big Red it was the proper move, for 90% of other college teams, it would be stupid.

AWAD- OU will be national champs this year

That's not in contention. It's second place that is the real story....

Exactly, that and who did NU beat this year? I don't think ANY of the team they've beaten are in the top 25. Solich has lost pretty much EVERY important game every year he's been here. True we're in the toughest conference in College football but if memory serves me correctly the only teams from the Big XII we've beaten this season were KU and CU, the rest we lost BIG. Combine everything already said with the fact that Solich doesn't recrute for crap, I'll give a good example in a sec, and I would've fired him before the end of his second year.

Recuiting: One of the guys I graduated with could move like your average pro running back, had a 4.0, and WAS a huge Nebraska fan. To the point that he turned down scholarships because he was told by Solich himself that he would have a scholarship waiting for him at NU. Guess what happened? Solich changed his mind on signing day and told him that if he wanted to play he'd have to be a walk on.

Slythis - an NU fan who agrees with AWAD

I have to agree, this Husker fan is happy to see him go. I miss the days when playing Nebraska was your biggest fear. Now other teams are beginning to get comfortable to even play them at home. Not a good thing.

I would expect this kind of discussion over NFL teams, Not college. These guys are not Pros, but students. Grown ups, allegedly, but still students. Yes they should do a lot better that High School kids, but I just don't see getting out the witey tighties and torturing yourself with them.

I think the decision to release him after 5 years was probably a good one.

Heck everything moves in cycles, some are longer than others. I grew up in Corvallis Oregon, OSU. 2 Rosebowl wins, 50 years apart. I was on the down side, a good game was when we lost by less than 14! Heck The High School was robably better, having won Stae Champs 3 years running.

Vegas now, UNLV rebels are the college team. They did real well until politics/ corruption got them. Right now they are rebuilding and have been thru at least 3 coaches in the last 8 years. The coaches need time to build a team, altought it shouldn't take 5 years.

I get the odd feeling he doesn't understand just how fanatical COLLEGE fans can get, frankly I'd rather watch a college game than pro. In the NFL the guys are getting paid very well to show up at practice and play half heartedly in a game and it shows, in college these kids are on the feild because they enjoy the game... or they have a scholarship...

For now this Husker fan is behind the release of Frankie...he had a tough act to follow, but he was part of that act so should of known how to run things. Five years is enough time to get your team together and be back on the upspring, not falling further behind.

The only thing I fear is that we will get something worse than Frankie or we will start going through coaches like seasons.

Here's a toast to the proverbial next season blues and to the hopes that the Huskers get back on top soon.

Not the ones I'm friends with, I know most of the guys on the team here at Northwest Missouri, and about 1/2 the huskers, most of them just like to play and don't expect to ever go pro.

To many of the college level players I have know, most just love to play. Getting to play in the NFL with those large contracts is just a benefit. I have met a few that could have gone pro, but just graduated and moved on with their lives. It is a sport that is too riddled with injuries for anyone to bet their future on it.
