Ok a crazy thought here, but how come a mech from the 3025 era, lets say the Whitworth, be worth the same amount in 3067? Because surely when it was created it was much more valuble because the technology employed would have been the cutting edge, but as the years have gone on and star league stuff has been rediscovered and even improved, surely the obselete mechs would go down in cost? For example, Is a M4 Sherman tank going to be worth the same amount today as it was in 1945?
Which brings in another question, how come older mechs are not worth more?
I think this entire question is more trouble to think about than its worth, just thought i would annoy you all, ha ha!

3025 and 3050 have entirely different economic systems. The cheapest 'mechs cost about 1.5 million c-bills. In 3025, no single mission is likely to net a lance or company 1.5 million c-bills, and even if you did have the money, the part, weapon, or 'mech you need very well may not be readily available for sale. 'mech companies fought for and were paid for with battlefield salvage, supplemented by the meager output of 'mech production plants. Monetary compensation was generally limited; often mercenaries in the Periphery would be paid with food and ammunition. In such a situation, a 'mech is essentially priceless. This was why a mechwarrior's greatest fear was to be dispossessed. Capturing a 'mech, without another 'mech, was virtually impossible.

Another thing is that older machines are less likely to be produced, and thus are harder to come by.
Take for example, a B-17. Mass friggin produced, but all the parts were made by hand. At the time they were 'cutting edge', but arent any more, thus they arent made any more.
If you want one now, you either have to build one yourself or restore one, or you have to pay BOATLOADS of cash to buy one.
Same holds true of anything that would be made in the Inner Sphere. If you want one of the 'classics' you either have to build or restore one yourself, or pay lots and lots of sponduli to get one.
As more of the older models are rebuilt, the 3025 parts either go to the boneyard and rust out, or get stripped to make bigger and better stuff. Thus the older stuff thats working or even salvageable is less and less frequently found.

Interesting....
I'm wondering also about the state
of use such machine should bear.
The way for that is choose the era
the game will be playng if you can
"renounce"at sagitteire types.
A lvl 2 game could be ok,ranging unit
from 3050/55 era.

This was the case even in 3025; 'mechs simply were not usually available on the open market. If they were, they probably went for 5 times the list price.

it is simple....
The Battletech Universe no longer suffers from inflation, or the pricing of objects based on there avalibility.
real reason....
it was simpler to just increase the cost of new units then to modifiy the cost of older units in each TRO. otherwise, they were lazy and didn't want to do it.
