DV-6m Dervish- Costs 4,980,688 c-bills.
RFL-4D Rifleman- Costs 4,980,800 c-bills.
Rifleman has no ammo but massive heat problems.
Dervish has lots of ammo but lesser heat problems.
Armor is similar, speeds are close.
Dervish has longer range but lower damage at range and can jump.

The Dervish should be able to take the Rifleman.
The mobility factor .

If this is a 'budget' match then the Dervish should win most engagements. The problem would come in if this was an extended engagement with both sides raiding and retreating (think 3025 era). Eventually the Dervish will run out of ammo, do you have enough money to support it?
Heat I can live with, empty ammo bins I cannot.

4D Rifleman carries two large lasers and two PPCs, and a somewhat underwhelming 15 single heat sinks.
A bad version of a bad mech. It will die, die die!
Seriously. The Rifleman's got all those guns in the arms, shielded by it's not-quite-frontline medium mech armor. It's got the same armor tonnage as that fire support Dervish, heat problems and worse mobility.

Dervish will tear open the rifleman its superior movment curve will eventually get it a back shot and the rifleman hasnt the armor for that

The Rifleman hasn't got much of a chance. The Dervish can use its higher speed to stay out of PPC range, and bombard the Rifleman with LRMs. That will seriously weaken the Rifleman's armor, and then the Dervish will have to close in with lasers and SRMs.The Rifleman still has some chance, but it's inability to fire more than a fraction of its weapons will most likely get it killed, while the Dervish outmanuevers it and finishes it with SRM and laser fire. The Rifleman's only real chance is a stupid Dervish pilot or a lucky shot (likely SRM ammo).

Dervish.
It has manuverability. Better speed. Better range.

As Ruger will likely point out before too long, the Dervish is a pretty nifty machine, and often under-rated.
The Dervish has my vote here.

Another question to consider.
If you were in charge of a merc company composed of mecchs in the 30-70 tons range and you were short one mech, had 4.9 mil to spend, and those were the only two available.
Which would you invest in? _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

Dervish every time, mainly because its a far more useful chasis to use.
The Rifleman is a paper armoured mech so its a bad choice for mech units especially the 4D version.
Course this depends on how much you can live with your ammo bills being relatively high because of the dervish's expenditures.

That would depend on what my unit really needs. If there's a place open for a medium jump capable support unit, I buy the Dervish. If I need a slower heavy support unit I pick the poor Rifleman. Both have the same amount of armor.
These aren't BAD mechs, they're just not made to fight duels alone. Both can be effective as parts of a suitable lance.

You rang?
As was stated above, I will have to throw my support behind the Dervish...
