This could be interesting. In the old days, some of my friends quite liked the Quickdraw for its mobility. The Osts are amongst the most popular 'mechs in German tourneys. And I voted... _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

...the Rifleman!
Very heavily armed, this one is often ridiculed for its lack of heat dissipation. And this despite the fact that it can fire 3/4 of its main weaponry without worries!
It also has a ridiculously low BV: 797 points! You can get two for the price of an Atlas (almost).
This will almost never be your enemy's prime target. Meaning it can really pump out those AC shells. Once the ammo is gone, so should any fright of heat. Go nuts! And enjoy.
Last but definitely not least: This is one of the three most aesthetically pleasing 'mechs. Together with the Marauder and (now, this is purely my very eclectic opinion) the Thor! As Jules Winfield said: "Personality goes a long way!" _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

Another tough batch to pick from.
Like the 40 ton bracket, the 60 ton bracket seems to have a lot of Mechs that are considered inferior by many. I went with an Ostsol as it's fast, has a lot of firepower, and a lot of armor. People tend to underestimate them because they heat up and have weak arm armor. I love them though, and I've inflicted quite a bit of damage with the gimpy arms.
The other Mechs are OK, but beyond the Grand Dragon, I tend to dislike most of them.

I'm with Paul on this one...the Ostsol is superior to the other 3025 sixty tonners...good mobility, fair armor (a tad light perhaps), and despite being a lightbulb 'Mech, I like the weapons loadout...
Of course, I had alot of success with one in my very first game of BTech, so I might be a tad biased by that...

Yes, the Ostsol it is. That's the only one I'd really consider unless we're building a House unit. Fast, hard-hitting mech, and in a much better way than the Dragon. The Coordinators should have committed ritual suicide instead of buying those piles of scrap metal.
Riflemen just suck, period. Too little ammo for the primary weapons, too few heatsinks for the backups. It's a fire support mech that can't really support you.
Quickdraw? Mobile thanks to the jump jets, but the weaponry is a bit odd. I'd use it, but not as a first choice.

my choice here would be the dragon its mobility offsets its light weapons while giveing that devestating charge ability

Ostsol. Firepower, heat efficiency, and speed, all at once. The armor's not great, but it's not that bad either. It's also ugly as sin, but that doesn't stop it from being a good desgin.

I voted Ostsol. Having piloted all these mechs, I have come to find the Ostsol as the one that is handy to have in most situations. It's speed combined with it's weapons loadout are remarkably flexible for the various missions that can be found. While much is said of it's speed I bow to the knowledge that the only one on this list that doesn't match it's speed is the Rifleman. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

Cept that there's no grand dragon listed there..

Well, I'm really glad that the Rifleman has caught up with the Ostsol. I'm kinda surprised with this poll. Sure, everyone belittles my beloved Rifleman. But what were the alternatives? I didn't think the Ost-series was all that popular. The Quickdraw is an infamous white elephant. And the Dragon.... well I always thought the notion of the Combine's main line 'mech carrying nothing but popguns quite funny! Maybe we'll get a couple of additional votes, soon?
