As I pointed out below, I *L*O*V*E* the Trebuchet. And while I don't hate it, I'm fairly indifferent towards the Dervish.

In a support role I'd take the Trebuchet over the Dervish. However, in a head-to-head matchup, I'll take the Dervish. It's movement is the same speed wise but it has full jump abilities. Also it has more shots for it's LRM's even if they're smaller launchers. The wider variety of back up weapons also helps it out some.

In a one-on-one, the Dervish's jumping and better close weapons give it an advantage. The LRM launchers are smaller, but they also have more shots. Plus, I like the Dervish.

Trebuchet. It's built for fighting, with exactly the right amount of weapons and ammo. Once your LRMs are gone you can walk and fire all lasers every round, no problem.
The Dervish takes a lot more thought to use effectively, what with jumping and heat. And let's not forget the SRM-2 launchers with their generous two tons of ammo. Why?

Maybe they hope to smash the weapon pods in during close combat and have them explode doing damage to both the Dervish and the guy it just whacked...
