Targeting & Tracking System: Cyclops Multi-Tasker 10
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
Intended to fill the bill for a light mech hunter the Ranger is moderatly fast
with decent heat dissapation for its weapons load out. To keep the price down
as much as possible very little new tech was used, Infact only the engine and
targeting system were considered for advanced tech. The outcome is a mech that
retains alls the speed of a Phoenix Hawk but adds more armor and increases the
damage curve.
==Capabilities:==
Quick but not fast, with decent agility for a 45 ton mech the Ranger is a very
capable light mech hunter. Full armor coverage and decent heat dissapation
makes the mech a threat at all ranges, and an experienced pilot can "ride the
heat curve" to quickely dispatch targets.
A Light engine was used instead of the XL for survivability reasons, as well
as for cost. Standard lasers were used instead of the more expensive ER
versions. They have been tied to the new Cyclops Multi-Tasker 10 targeting
computer. This gives the pilot the ability to track multiple targets and send
the information back to HQ.
==Battle History:==
No significant battlehistory at this time. Only simulations have been run with
the design.

In all honesty I thought this would have gotten at least some sort of comment.

By the way, is this your attempt at showing me how to make a "real" ultra-cheap 'mech? One to kill the Killa? _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.

Those are commonly known as AgroMechs. Or the "quick, pa! Get ol' Bessie outta the shed! The Dracs are comin" mechs. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.

Nope. As I was posting the reply I had a inspiration (unfortunately it didnt carry over to the fluff, the fluffis really uninspired sorry).
IN all honesty I really liked the Killa, as a merc commander I just dont see it as a viable option though. And that is mostly because of my luck with teh AC 20.

It looks a little like a Pheonix Hawk clone...
Different close in weapons but both carry 2 ER LL and move at 6/9/6.
You've got more armour and a Light engine instead of an XL though..
Nothing goes *boom* on yours either..

Multi-Track II? Why not Variable-range Targeting? You're fast enough to choose the engagement range with many mechs. Besides, medium mechs shouldn't be in situations where they have to shoot at many targets simultaneously.
Good machine for replacing lost Phoenix Hawks in any case.

I figured the Multitrack2 just because of scouting missions. And I liked the idea of being able to attack multiple targets with out a modifier. and since the MT2 dosent suffer the +1 to targets ouside the attackers front firing arc.
In all honestey I like either one. and it was a tossup between the Variable and the Multi track2 (A coin toss decided actually).
The Variable range TC combines the benefits of the Long and short range comps, Long range gives +1, +2,+3. Short gives -1, +2, +5. Both have their benefits.

OK, nothing wrong with figuring it like that. The machine is now especially good at keeping track of multiple targets.

BTW, in which phase do you have to decide the mode it uses? Before shooting? Or in the end phase, before starting the next turn? My MaxTech is absent.

But you switch ranges in the end phase turn.
