==Overview:==
Designed by the staff at Achernar Battlemechs as a new light scout to replace
the ancient Locust, the Poirot never became very popular, mostly because the
Locust was so firmly entrenched.

==Capabilities:==
Despite the design's unpopularity, the Poirot is actually quite capable. With
a top speed over 118 KPH, and a jumping distance of 120 meters, the 'mech is
certainly agile enough to outmaneuver most other scouts it may find. With a
Bical Missile Launcher and Harmon Starclass Laser as its primary armaments,
the Poirot is generally able to outfight its opponents as well. To help
protect the 'mech from infantry, as well as lay down a screen to cover its own
retreat, the Poirot is equipped with a single Zippo Flamer.

I don't like flamers except for specialists. Come to think of it, I don't much like SRM-2 launchers either.

I'd dump the flamer for a medium laser. You can always use Inferno SRMs if you must have a fire or need to slow down other scouts.

Why Poirot?

For anything to be called that, I would envisage a heavy 'mech, quite slow and with a beagle probe.

Poirot took his time, but always found the crook!

Apart from that, solid design, lvl1, I like! It is quite similar to the Super Wasp, detailed in "Tales of the Black Widow Company".

I liked the name "Poirot" better than "Fletcher" or "Holmes". Sounded more stylish.

Okay, it's light, it's fast, it's got damage profile similar to a 20 tonner. It's got retarded jumpjets. Yay!

Sorry, I'd drop the jets for a better weapons load. Flamers are nice, if flaming is your job. If it isn't, then flamers are a ton better spent elsewhere. Perhaps if you dropped the jets, Upped the SRM-2 to a 4 or 6, swapped the flamer for either a medium or a pair of smalls, and perhaps(gasp) drop a half ton of armor.
With the loss of the jets and a half ton of armor you can free up 2.5 tons. That'll up your SRM-2 to a 6 and give you a small laser. Here's an Idea, with the 2.5 tons you freed up, up the speed to 8/12 and up your SRM-2 to a SRM-4.

And if you ask, I'm not all about maxing the armor. I feel you can have a solid design with less than max armor.

With a movement of 8/12, it just turns into a heavier Locust, or a lighter Cicada. The Jets set the design apart from those two designs.
But I'll see what I can do about the Flamer

I switched the Flamer for a Small Laser and another Jump Jet. The 'mech can now move 7/11/5. Hopefully that movement profile isn't quite as "retarded"?

Erm.... Anyways. I actually like the original design. Because, if it moves at 7/11/5 and does not mount a flamer, it becomes a rather poor copy of the Jenner, right?

This way, because of the flamer, it is a symbiosis of the Locust and the Firestarter. Not as fast as the former, not as effective as the latter. But a jack-of-both-trades, if you will.

Also, if you have 4 jump jets on such a fast design, it means that you will not ever use those JJ to actually maneouvre offensively. No - it will mean that they are there to navigate very difficult terrain, and to jump away in emergencies.

I quite liked your original. It had style!
