This battle looks heavily against me to begin with. Thanks to a set of good positioning on my part, The Jagermech dropped before anything had been really hit on my side.
The battle ended due to lack of time to contine with my Crusader just barely out of armour and now into the internal structure, My Wolverine having 2 points of damage on it, My Warhammer being mint, and my Dervish with fine front armour but its rear center breached due to a nice move by the Guillotine.
The Stalker was sanded but not really hurt. The Dragon was deep into internals all over and close to dropping, the Guillotine was fresh still.
As it stands its either a draw in Darkadder's mind or more a Marginal Victory from my mind. Knowing the correlation of forces and a relatively tight quarters fight would occur on the map we chose, I fully expected my Aggressor lance to bite it against a much heavier and skillful force.
Biggest mistakes of the match.
Early on moving his mechs Darkadder placed his Jagermech in a position where it was the only target my entire lance had when I finished my moves.
Darkadder set up a box that he expected me to come out into with the Dragon/Stalker holding the middle sets. Instead I avoided his Guillotine and what was left of his Jagermech and had my lance snipe at the Dragon/Stalker combo from the streets.
Then Darkadder gambled and mvoed his Jagermech so that my Wolverine and Dervish had the jump capacity to land behind it. I nailed the AC 5 ammo bin that had 17 rounds in it. His return fire from his other three mechs resulted in 8ish points of damage to my now exposed jumpers.
My biggest mistake was taking a run into the Stalkers melee range and that let the Guillotine a shot at the rear of my Dervish which almost got me killed. If not for cold dice on that volley I'd have bought it.
My Crusader caught all of Darkadder's fire for the entire battle it seemed. Targeting my biggest mech seemed to be an okay idea to him. In my mind the green pilot in my most heavily armoured and weaponed machine was pretty much useless. So his ignoring the far more fragile machines that were eating his force up, let me get as far as I did.
Both of us at times seemed to drop into clan ROE rules, he seemed completely suprised when I opened my whole lance up on his Jager. I on the other hand got my Crusader kicked because I forgot about melee attacks.
All in all it was a match that was oddly satisfying despite the mistakes and the uneven odds involved. I've not played enough lately.
