Slow / too light firepower for C3 master.

What kind of units should it lead?

Many high tech toys ... and single heat sinks ... light armor a lot of UAC ammo

Strange mech, I would give it 1.5.

Under what measure is a 55-tonner moving 5/8/5 slow? What kind of firepower do you want? A Heavy Gauss Rifle?

Since it's a scout 'mech, I would say scouting units.

They're Lyrans. They can afford a lot of high tech stuff.

Double heat sinks weren't neccessary, since the max this thing can generate is 17 heat in a single turn. Just excercise a little bit of fire discipline (what? fire discipline in a level 2 design? blasphemy!) and you'll be fine.

Again, by what measure is nine and a half tons of armor light?

The extra ammo is for extended deployments, to aid in the scouting role.

I think is is implying that in this time period 5/8/5 is a bit slow for a scout mech. There are plenty of scount hunters that would find this and crush it. A scout of this speed with 2 small lasers as the backup weapons is going to find itself in a pinch if it gets attacked while it is attempting to retreat back to the landing zone.

55 tonner may be fast enough, but as leader of recon mechs it doesn't have speed to run from opponents usually encountered during raids and recon missions or keep up with faster things (like Darts). If you build scout units from Commandos and Razorbacks than it may pass, but otherwise there may be problems with that

For firepower I would expect something that would at least fend off Stingers. With two meds in torso and two arm mounted ER smalls for short range and UAC/5 for long range you'll be outgunned by lvl 1 Jenners and Panters from Kurita militia units. Having firepower comparable to something like Sentinel doesn't look like something Lyrans would make.

HGR would look a bit like joke, but PPC, large lasers or LRMs seem like better choice for main gun than UAC/5 to me, unless you want to make Mastermind overlooked.

There are scouting units like darts and scouting units like Lyran scout of yours ...

High tech things are okay, but why using them on mech that looks like cross between hight tech scout and militia unit (not meant as offense in any way) I'm just trying to tell that elite units can afford the best stuff (especially Lyran elite units) and militia units can't afford mechs like Mastermind.

Fire discipline is fine thing, but when you practice it your firepower is quite low.

C3 Master = (usually) prime target

9.5 t are average for normal mech, for commander's mech it may fade away quickly.

... and going boom. CASE will save the mech, but guess what are going 10 HS to do with two engine crits?

Too fast and too cheap for a Lyran scout mech.
