Beware heretics!
I've started a Witchhunters army with mostly Adeptas Sororitas in order to keep the local heretics down. Once I've got a good paint scheme I might even post a picture or two.
What? You say I didn't play the game? That's true, I started with Rogue Trader and haven't played since the 2nd Edition. But my friends organized a small gaming weekend recently, and one of the items was WH40K recon patrols (200pts) against each other. It was really fun so we'll start gaming again. People own Eldar, Imperial Guard, Ork and Space Marine armies that require only slight adjustments. I've got a large Ork force, but a new army seemed like the way to go. Sister of Battle seemed like the right way to go. Burn, heretic, burn!

Once real life caught up, it has proven to be too expensive.. (it's different when your parents are paying for your purchases.. indirectly).
If i had the cash, i would restart with IG or Orks.. Torchlights and BIG tanks are appealing.. but so are green skinned maniacs..

Seriously, I have an Ork army, and am working on a Slaanesh Chaos army. I generally have the funds for it, but the time to paint is another story...

There's well over a hundred old plastic Orks on my shelf, last used under second edition. I just wanted a new army.
Funds isn't a problem considering how much overtime I've clocked lately. It's time to paint that will be hard to find. And of course my painting skills have suffered from lack of use - not that I was very good even at my best.

Praqctice makes perfect. I've been painting for 15 years, and I'm still working on new techniques.

A friend of mine was incredibly good while he was active. The Terminator Marine Librarian, for example. If you had a looking glass you could read the text on the scroll nailed to his left greave. "It's both right and glorious to die for the Emperor" in Latin.
Bah, better get on the training. I do have a basic grasp of highlighting and shading, it's just patience that is needed. Thin paint, multiple layers.

Inks and drybrushing are my best friends. Gives depth and highlighting with minimal effort. I have found that Citadel colours are useless for drybrushing with. I use cheap(er) folkart paints. You get more for your buck, and the last longer. Plus, they're not quite as thick. I also just use brushes from a dollar store. I go through a lot, so why make them expensive?
Citadel does make the best metalics, and inks.
