I was rereading the Comstar Explorer Corps. book, and a thought came across me when I got to the part about the discovery of Colombus Base. In it, it describes how an unknown jumpship (which an insert identified as probably being a Jarnfolk ship) drew away the majority of the bases defenders, a combined-arms regiment. The regiment never returned (the insert also states it's highly unlikely that the Jarnfolk had the capability to annihilate the SLDF force).
The question is: what happened to them?

Let's see...
The ship was WoB and the CAR (Combined Arms Regiment) was in favor of joining them or had sleeper agents who where in command postions and handed the CAR over to the WoB. You know the normal uber WoB agents.
Or the ship was Clan and they probed the defenses, and beat the ComStar CAR, but didn't have the manpower to take the base.
OR...
The ship was part of the Wolverines and they beat the ComStar CAR but didn't take the base since it would be to much of an issue and would alert the whole IS/Clans to their still being alive.
OR...
This was a cool side story that never went anywhere because the writers have forgotten about it over the years...
Or....aliens where in the ship and with their phase array disruptors wiped out the CAR.

Or....
The commanding officer fell deeply in love with one of the Jarnfolk and soon they all lived jumpily ever after.
Then a black hole ate them all.

"They're all dead, Dave. Everybody. Everybody is dead, Dave"
... Or The CAR was made up of Celtic folk and they made the mistake of stopping by the local pub on the way home.

Obviously, they didn't meet anyone nice, or who could shoot straight.
As for misjumps, could they have ended up on some planet, inhabited by giant intelligent birds, and populated by the desendants of other unfortunate misjumpees? Can you say Far Country?

Well that makes sense. And here I thought the writer just had a heart attack and died ala 'Monty python.'
