The Texas Rangers made a trade that on the surface looks great. But I have my doubts.
On Friday 7-9-10, The Rangers closed a deal to trade Justin Smoak and Blake Beaven along with Josh Lueke and Matt Lawson for Cliff Lee and (injured pitcher) Mark Lowe.
Now. Mr Lee is a great pitcher, and might do very well in a Ranger uniform. But I feel we gave up Smoak and Beaven to early. Smoak was doing very well with a decent RBI. And Beaven was a great minor league pitcher who was just started to warm up to the majors. And I have to ask, Do we really need another pitcher at the cost of a decent batter? Yes I know that Hamlton and Vald are kicking a$$ big time with their bats. But we can't rely to much on them. we need power on bats more then mound. Not with Scott Feldman doing so nicely and a decent back up in the bullpen. (although this might be in doubt after the 7-6 loss against the O's last night in the 10th)
The Ranger's have a bad habit of tradeing alot of good talent before they can prove themselfs. Look around. allot of the stars out in the league started in the Ranger's, who traded them way to early. So, are we following the same destructive pattern here? or are we making a good trade. I vote, Destructive pattern. Lee is good. but not Smoak and Beaven good.
that's my two cents (which is about the total sum of my bank account right now.) _________________
