==Overview:==
The story of Curtiss Militech is a surprising one. 

At one point in time, they were Curtiss Industries, the manufacturer of the
Lightning hovercraft for the Star League. 

Due to incidents unknown, they abandoned production of the Lightning and
instead began to focus on making civilian equipment.

Then in light of the incidents in regards to the Clan invasion, it went back
to making military hardware.

As such, it was only a matter of time before Curtiss "rediscovered" the
Lightning. 

==Capabilities:==
Although still intended as a quick striker unit, the Lightning II has a number
of improvements over its ancestor. 

For starters, most of the weapons have been moved to a turret. This allows the
Lightning II a full 360 degree radius of firing, making it more effective. In
the process, the cramped crew compartment has been redesigned thanks to all
the internal space saved by the switch. The crew now has additional room, and
so are not cramped together. This allows them to bring more personal gear on
board.

The twin one-shot SRM 4s have been replaced with a single SRM 4 with a ton of
ammo and CASE; this was done to prolong the Lightning's combat lifespan, as
constantly having to reload the original lightning was an issue.

Additionally, a small laser was added to the front  to provide a token amount
of protection against armored infantry. Extra armor was also added due to this
same concern.

Of note is the fact that even with the larger, more open space inside, it can
still get a little warm inside the vehicle if the small laser is constantly
fired; no one knows why this is, and therefore the engineers are at a loss to
solve it. As such, the testing crews developed a habit of using some of the
.15 tons of cargo space to carry a small cooler containing ice and bottled
beverages; even if the small laser wasn't fired during the test run, having
the beverages and ice handy seemed to provide a positive psychological effect
for the test crews.

==Variants:==
It was discovered during testing that moving the small laser to the rear of
the vehicle seemed to solve the issue of the crew compartment heating up;
however, it also reduced the usefulness of the weapon. Curtiss will move the
laser to the rear if the customer so requests it.

==Deployment==
The Free Worlds League has expressed interest in acquiring several units, as
it would allow them to supplement their Harrasser and Maxim units.
