==Overview:==
The ISRC Search and Rescue Type I frigate is the culmination of over
three years of effort and cooperation of the various galactic powers and
corporations and forms the first warship produced within the Inner Sphere in
the last three centuries whose sole purpose is that of rescuing lives and not
taking them. Operated by the multi-national organization for humanitarian
rescue and relief, the Inner Sphere Red Cross, and funded by donations and
grants from dozens of corporations and several of the Great Houses, The ISRC
Search and Rescue Type I frigate is a leap in international relations and
humanitarian relief.
==Capabilities:==
ISRC Search and Rescue Type I frigate is designed for one purpose and one
purpose only: the quick and immediate response to disasters, both human and
natural. To fulfill this purpose, the ISRC Search and Rescue Type I frigate
is outfitted with powerful interplanetary drives and a Lithium Fusion battery
assisted K-F Drive System. In addition, Comstar has worked with the ISRC and
has outfitted ISRC Search and Rescue Type I frigate with a Comstar operated
HPG Communications Array and signed a contract that greatly reduces the fees
charged for priority transmissions. This allows the vessel to respond as
quickly as possible to situations.
To further this purpose, the ISRC Search and Rescue Type I frigate is
outfitted with four docking hardpoints, a dozen small craft, over two thousand
tons of cargo space, and enough passenger space to transport two thousand
refugees for nearly six months. In addition, the ISRC Search and Rescue Type
I frigate is outfitted with twenty-seven gravdecks that offers over 2600
meters of artificial gravity supplied environment. These decks are divided
into three main sections and further sub divided in each main section with
five decks in the first main deck and eleven in each of the other main decks.
Each main section is segregated from the others by a main bulkhead and
associated decks with the second and third main sections each associated with
a passenger quarter decks of a thousand rooms. As a security measure, these
sections main bulkheads can be closed to prevent the moving of persons from
one section to another, which is a useful feature for situations where the
persons in one section are from a different political element then the other.
When all main bulkhead accesses are closed, the only means of moving from one
place to another is through the main axial shaft which is patrolled regularly
by power armor assisted security officers. In addition, the axial shaft is
the only interior method by which a person can move from the forward command
sections and the rear engineering sections.
The ISRC Search and Rescue Type I frigate is outfitted with a minimal
number of weapons and armor plating as such items are deemed opposite to the
nature of the vessel. However, as a means to ward off pirates, the ISRC
Search and Rescue Type I frigate is outfitted with a six Defiance 1001 ER
PPCs, twenty-four McArthur Anti-Missile Systems, and a pair of Barracuda
Antiship/Antifighter warship missiles. Furthermore, as mentioned above, the
ISRC Search and Rescue Type I frigate has a compliment of two hundred power
armored security officers who can be used to ward off boarding attempts.
The ISRC Search and Rescue Type I frigate is a vessel that is more then
capable of fulfilling its prescribed mission as well as being a symbol to the
universe of the goodness that man kind is capable of.
==Deployment==
At this time, Port Sydney Naval Shipyards has two ISRC Search and Rescue
Type I frigates under construction with the ISRC Flagship, The Guardian,
having just finished construction and undergoing shack down trials. The ISRC
hopes to get the funding to operate and construct another four vessels. It is
their hope to have one such vessel operating in each of the major Inner
Spheres factions as well as one in the Chaos March. If this plan comes to
full fruition, the ISRC would be capable of having on scene three to four
vessels within a month of an disaster, which is an impressive response that
even the great houses would be stressed to match without a significant
repositioning of military resources.

Very good Idea, but I wonder if it wasn't cheaper to use a JumpShip with multiple civilian DropShips. The would be able to search entire system with ease.

i actually thought of that, but it just didn't seem as fun. I got the idea in my head, after reading the TechManual entry for Escape Pods, of a neutral third party whose only job was to enter a system where a major naval engagement was occurring and rescue the crews that managed to get free of damaged vessels. They would do this within time to rescue the lives of the stranded before they could drift to far and before a major faction might be able to allocate resources to search and rescue.
The added function of planetary relief came as a side effect of equipping it for search and rescue, lol. A welcome one however.
Maybe i will go work on a jumpship addition to the ISRC.

I like this notion. I think it makes sense, and it might just be politically feasible. We do have a new Star League, after all. However, I do think that it has one draw back - its size.
The first thing that occurred to me when I saw this was the "Beta Regulan Tragedy," which is referenced in the new House Steiner book. A planet with a thousand kilometer rock on a collision course, six million people on the surface, and about two years to save them. This was during the Third Succession War, so there was no help to be had. They got two million people off before the rock hit.
This is an extreme example, but given the number of refugees a planet could potentially produce, I'm not certain that this ship would be sufficient. After all, things must be going pretty badly if you're getting a mass exodus from the planet, as opposed to the just the rich bugging out on their own pocketbooks.
It's a fine idea, but I'm not sure if it's sufficient for its task.

Remember that this can carry 4 dropships which can be configured for maximum effect if given the time. just a matter of, we need people capacity. Higher on some civy dropships with cargo capacity and cabin space.
