Hey All,
Question for everyone. When I first got involved in Battletech, oh fifteen years ago, one of the major draws for me was the immersive world(s). I really enjoyed exploring it in novels like the original Grey Death Trilogy, Wolves on the Border and so on. I followed the novels fairly faithfully until about halfway through the "Twilight of the Clans," when I ceased to read them. I've seen the Mechwarrior: Dark Age series of novels at my local bookstores. What're your opinions of them? Are they worth taking a look at? And what do you think about the state of Btech fiction overall?

I only bought the very first MechWarrior Dark Age novel but haven't even read it. As for the state of fiction, I wish they'd go back to print, but the electronic fiction is actually pretty good as well. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

I have read several of the MW novels and they are not that great in my opinion, some of them had interesting bits and peices, but overall several of the writers didn't either understand the BT universe or were trying to hard to convey the helplessness of things, which in turn meant a very boring and predictable novel. Also the use of new mechs, with out much given for their back ground etc...left a lot to be desired.
Also given that BT novels don't seem to be big on TPTB list of things to do, the only official fiction is what is found electronically at BattleCrops webpage. Then again you can get excellent fan fiction that is better written then a lot of the official stuff here or at the Heavy Metal Pro Site or any of the other BT websites. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato
