I just found out today that AZN Television, formerly known as the International Channel, is going to sign off for good as of April 9th. According to their website, it's due to their inability to get enough advertisers to remain afloat.
International Channel served a great purpose: it was the only network on cable television that carried programming from Asia, the Middle East, and mainland Europe. Additionally, its Asian programming block contained anime that no one would touch without having first butchered it, helping to revive interest in anime in the US.
When they chose to focus on Asian programming, they made it a point to highlight Asian-American culture, even going so far as to have shows dedicated to up-and-coming Asian-American entertainers so that they could have a vehicle in which to show off their skills.
But with AZN signing off for good, all of that is going to be gone.

Odd...that seems to be the way things go for TV based media, either they have the support or they don't.
