Well, even in this incarnation, Mordel's has now seen me at least 999 times (obviously not counting all the times I wasn't logged in).
I have also just won a huge jackpot. And Mordel is putting up the option of "purchasing" all different sorts of HM programs.
Well, what do you say to that? I would say:
TYPICAL!
In a way, I can also use this post to mark another anniversary: in about a month's time, it will be exactly a decade since I started coming here. That is 10 years.
I have been here at a time when this was "The Repair Bay". I lived through the exile that the community survived as a group in "RavenHeart's Fortress". Then "The Bar & Grill" and now just "Mordel.Net" (WITH the B&G).
MarlboroMan aka Mulkasaur once put it best. And yes, the community had a lot to do. But that is subject to change, obviously. I was lucky enough to join early enough to actually experience the original bunch at Mordel's - what a wild crowd (one of which has become my only internet friend to change into a real-life one). There are a few survivors, but hardly any - I won't single anyone out. Then there was another crowd, of about my "generation". Now, I feel like a fossil. But nevertheless, MM's words hold true.
And ultimately, it is because of what this "home" is: IMO still the very best BT website to be found on the net. Here, we have a wonderful resource center at our disposal, unparalleled in its combination of depth, looks and function. And the stalward crowd of people who cater to us.
Thank you Mordel, for always sticking with this, with us, throughout the times. Thank you for letting this website develop just as you did in person.
Thank you chihawk for joining in and bringing discipline and compassion into a moderator's job.
Thank you Vagabond for your enthusiasm over the years. I remember you joining in a long, long time ago, under a different name. Much has happened since then, not at all only pleasant. Even though we were never close on a real-life personal level, it is thrilling to see everything you're achieving.
You guys are the core of an online family.
I may be gone for months, but then I return and am right at home. And I have high hopes that won't ever change (relatively speaking!).
A final, great, big, fat THANKS from one of your prodigal sons! _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

As I've said before, this place will be here until the day I die. I did this for the community. We are not even close to being one of the biggest BT sites out there. But I do feel I am the best with what I offer. Some places are fancier such as CamoSpecs, but they are really one-sided in their purpose. I have a lot more I want to do, but not the time. So some day this will be the place everyone goes!
As it is now, though, enjoy. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

It is more than anyone could wish for!
Seriously, aimed at you, particularly - for as long as I can remember, you have *such* a history of giving!
I mean, when I first snooped around in '98, there was Patrick's site, Wars in the Inner Sphere, and you. Apart from the fact that you had the only cool message board (I never particularly dug Sarna.net as a site), it was actually also the interactive PBeM which you ran, that sucked me in. Now that would be a truly cool thing to reactive once you feel like sinking another huge chunk of your life into this site!
It definitely set itself apart from other PBeMs (ok, now is the time to bow to you again, chihawk!) by its graphical presentation. And MegaMek just doesn't compare to PBeMs one bit (never liked that platform, one bit). _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

And I thank you as well. As long as I have internet connection and the few minutes to spare... Mordels will be my home. From Designers to Writers and lurkers to posters who drop down ten or more a day, we are a true community that i find handles things with a fair amount of humility and fairness. We avoid the drama when we can, lol.
To another great 10 years, eh! _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

I remember having this site early on when I started going to Worcester State College. That was 1994. So I think the site has been around since about 1995. Does any other BT site out there have that beat? _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Sir Henry, I didn't single anyone out - but you truly are one of the great people of the first generation here at Mordel's! Bowing won't suffice!
Then, there are those who left. Anyone else remember Headhunter, illkhan Frank, Carlos, Greyslayer and so on?
Or generation 1.5? Ruger, RavenHeart, Mandrake, Old Dog, jymset, er, hang on!
Ah, sweet nostalgia!
As for your "age", Mordel, you definitely seem to be one of the absolute record-holders!
How old is Sarna? Does it still count as a continuation of what it used to be?
And then, the page under ralgith's maintenance is a continuation of something that started in '92 - and I only know this because it A) has a history section and B) used to go by the name of "Wars in the Inner Sphere" in '98 - and was my *other* favourite page at that time! _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior
