Posted: 08-Sep-2009 20:38 Post subject: shakedown mission ideas. |
|
|
If I do get my campaign going again, odds are I'll have a lot of players who are new to the game system. As such, I'm trying to think of missions I can use to give them a shakedown w/o trouncing them too badly or being demeaning to the existing, experienced players.
I'd appreciate any feedback.
Thanks.

1.
A small contingent from the party - a lance of mechs and some infantry - have been assigned to guard a small but "vital" factory outside of a fairly remote farming town (if anyone asks, they'll learn that it produces packages of dried fruit and vegetables; these are staples of the civilian food aid packages, and so if the factory falls people will go hungry).
The OPFOR for this one will be two Savannah Masters, four Hover APCs w/ regular infantry, and a group of hover trucks. The SMs will harass the party, while the infantry conduct a smash-and-grab. If the infantry can take the factory or the SMs can repulse the party, however, the OPFOR will simply capture the entire factory; the party will have to retake it at a later date.

A commando raid on an OPFOR outpost quite literally caught one of their ace mech pilots with his pants down (he just got out of bed and was getting dressed). While said pilot was able to escape, the commandos secured his Fire Moth. Given how valuable a mech it is, the OPFOR obviously wants it back.
The party's air cavalry (a handful of attack choppers and some Karnovs w/ infantry) have been called in to help secure the OPFOR compound and clear a path so that a recovery vehicle can come in and haul it off to a safer facility.
While the OPFOR will mostly be infantry and carriers, the party will have to contend with a Harasser tank that is guarding a Heavy Hover APC; said APC contains the pilot and a group of commandos. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat."
