Yeah, it was pretty good, but I noticed a few technical errors (being military it's easier to pick them out... such as blanks in the Machine Gun, then live, then backto blanks, and other mundane nitpick points).
My only beef is the line when he says "We're Rangers, we're elite." Sorry, but, you can't have brand new recruits to the military and be an elite unit. They're pretty good, (and not to toot my own horn - which I never learned how to play anyhow) but, whenever we send a Canadian down to take the course he usually comes in first. Being fit doesn't mean you're a better soldier, neccessarily, and I find that most US courses are run to stress fitness. Up here, we don't have the money, so that becomes a personal problem to sortout, and the tactics is the main focus. Then again, I wish we had a bit of your military budget... my Regiment's funds were slashed again so we could send 750 soldiers to Afghanistan to play with the Airborne you guys sent.

That seems to be the crux of the problem for all the other "western" countries. Can't send troops because of the budget. Maybe the EU will be able to form and Expedition Group or something. I am getting tired of the U.S. playing "arsenal for democracy" all the time. If we are going to be doing the lions share of fighting for everyone, maybe weshould get a discount on our U.N. membership and other minor fees.

Well, the UN Peacekeeping mission to Afghanistan is an entirely European effort. Canada was going to send troops for that, but were politely denied due to EU concerns. So we're tagging on to the Americans.
The thing is, this is America's war. They attacked you, and you fought back. Nothing wrong with that, but, no one else really has to participate in this... (although it would be unsightly of the NATO alliance to do nothing after an attack on a signatory nation, even if the attacker is not a recognizable military force.)

True. But how many years has europe been laying down an just taking it? I think there was an Olympic thing? I guess there were things preoccupying everybody, and it took 911 to remind every one about something forgotten on the to do list. The quicker they get done the better. (I am in a seriously savage mood lately eh?)

Yep, I think that that is partly behind the current hardline Isreal has taken with Arafat. The current world climate currently is such that anyone trying to back Hezbollah or other Palestine related terror organizations will find themselves standing in a pretty lonely group.
The Moderate Arabs can't really step in, or risk being branded as supporting terror. This effectively has the PLO and such isolated with a minimal cost of political cost of capitol to Isreal. Isreal is taking advantage of the situation to "clean house" by going after groups they have been holding off on. Israel and Palestine could have had an agreement years back. Arafat made a bad choice due to some internal politics or lack of a backbone. The violence could have been contained at the beginning of 2001 if Arafat had made sure the jails held and prosecuted the terrorists. They didn't, so Israel,is now taking care of it their way.
Palestine is now suffering for mistakes made by their own leaders.
Sorry, about the soap box.

Back on the old board I posted a review of the movie...to sum it up when I left the theather I so shaken up with the want to do something to help them that I couldn't drive. So my girlfriend had to drive us home. Yeah I know it sounds silly, but the aderiline was pumping and I had to remind myself it was only a movie a couple of times.
This is one movie that should not be missed.

Well, I just got home from the movies and naturally this was the one I picked. You guys all recommended it, so I took your advice. And yes, it is an EXCELLENT movie, and very intense.
Someone mentioned it is more intense then Saving Private Ryan. I would tend to disagree, but only slightly. This movie definitely had a lot more continuous action in it, but Saving Private Ryan, in my eyes, was more intense.
However, that's not the point. The point is, this was a really good movie. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Yes it was. My heart went out for those guys when it happened and again seeing the movie. The Rangers and US Special Forces are the finest fighting men we have in this country today.
