I was just thinking whether it would be a viable idea to take different armor shaping into account in 'Mech construction.
In game it would look like like a normal item, that could be mounted in any location, either filling all location's slots or prescribed amount of prescribed slots. Each Armour Shaping increases the amount of armour points in the location in which it's installed by 10%. The effect is cumulative, so two Armour Shapings increase the amount of armour points by 20%, three by 30% etc. Maximum amount of Armour Shapings that can be installed in one hit location is 6. The armour point increase is applied after the armour points are allocated and it can increase the amount of armour points above the maximum allowed number for each location (2x structure points).
Reason for existence? Well, I think that there could be something that would make some difference between blocky monsters like the Awesome and relatively streamlined things like the Marauder and Dragon. And this could just be the thing IMO. Any ideas?

I think you're on to something. BV could be calculated as total number of armor points and cost could be calculated as increasing the armor's cost by doubling the armor cost in a location per 10% armor shaping done in that location.
