Large laser gives it some sting thoug. Limited field of fire will be often fealt so be careful where you stand. Hyeana was meant to be unleashed upon wounded heavies to finish them off and received JJs to approach from wherever it wants, but this brawler needs team-mates to cover it's back while trying to chew through someone's armour. I'd hesitate to get within 3 hexes of anything with this for loosing initiative could quickly rob me of the opportunity to ruin someone's day with all those weapons. It's great quad, but I'd think twice before picking it for a duel or in small sized teams. I can see it acting without any trouble in anything from lance up though. Nice origin story too! |
There was just no way to get what I wanted on the chassis of the Scorpion and keep the speed. Dropping the engine to a 275 freed up a bunch of tonnage though, and let me fix the worst features of the old design. You know, I considered adding four JJ instead of the LRM-5 launcher, but I wanted something to complement the long-range sting. And it would make a horrible duelist, but can serve pretty well as a fast fire-support 'Mech for a lance.

From what I see when I look at 1N the speed may be the 'Mech's main shtick, and it's main problem as well. It makes the 'Mech both underarmoured and undergunned, which is further aggravated by the lack of focus. With weapons load as light as Scorpion's it causes more harm than good to try to have all ranges covered by a major weapon system. If the PPC was dropped in favour of a large laser and armour the result could be a passable brawler, if rhe SRM was removed for LRMs and armour, then you'd get a fast suport.
It makes me wonder what would your 1T look like with similar thoughts applied. Twin SRM-6s (or perhaps SRM-4s and MLs) to form your pincers and LL for a sting could be an interesting twist. To get a long range variant I'd try a PPC and twin LRM-5s backed by two MLs. I'd love to try twin LRM-10 with PPC, but the armour would have to go to accomodate them along with the heat dissipaton. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Yes, that looks a lot like it. I didn't consider the MGs, but those are just details. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
