Overview:
A dinosaur from a previous Era, the Atropos comes from an time when "integrated combat
formations" was in vouge. In the Atropos's case it was a C3 networked VTOL unit. The
Atropos was the weapons platform for the formation. The Clotho and Lachesis formed other
aspects of the network
Capabilities:
Less common then it used to be, the Atropos is still responsible for much of modern doctrine
that discounts the use of light mechs. There are two tipping points for thus. One is that
despite the rotor being vulnerable to scatter shots it can still be surprisingly resilient
allowing the craft to take crippling amounts of damage that would demolish many light mechs.
The other is that weight for weight and speed for speed VTOLs have more tonnage capacity
for armor and weapons.
This is exemplified in the Atropos. With its twin LRM-15s, a reasonable amount of ammo, the
C3 slave, and somewhat paltry 3 tons of armor, no 30 ton mech could carry all that and keep
up its speed.
The Armor is a bit of a concern. Mitigation comes in the form of doctrine, using the C3
Network for the purposes of keeping its distance.
