Another good looking classic. Some firepower on a mobile and well armored chassis. The weaponloadout isnĀ“t more than acceptable but it has the heatsinks to alphastrike while jumping with almost no heat buildup.

It seems that this 'Mech's rating suffered from being compared to more specialized 6M or 6K variants. It can't match their firepower, but it's still a mobile unit with good weapons that can deal with smaller opponents and vehicles with ease. AC/5 may not be the best weapon in game, but it can sting the enemy as the WVR closes and it's pretty common (Condors and Marauders also use the same gun), so finding spare parts isn't that hard. SRM is a good multipurpose weapon (vee killer and crit. seeker) and medium laser is always handy. It may look less dangerous than the other WVRs, but it's still the one from the better half of IS mediums.

I have to disagree that the firepower on this mech is inadequate. I have actually found it to be quite effective when dealing with other 3025 mechs, and have had some success against clan tech with this one. This is definately the thinking man's (or woman's) mech, not a slugger but a great tactical asset to many situations. Definately a team player this mech is great for jumping around the battlefield assisting it's lance mates, and the JJ's make it a dangerous backbiter. One of my favorite mediums.

The standard design for the Wolvie - one part of the classic 55-tonner-trio - has always possibly been my favourite!
In terms of comparing it to its competitors: it runs cooler than the Griffin, but uses those heat sinks better than the Shadowhawk. It has basically the same long range punch as the Hawk and a much superior close-range firepower to either. I also like its armor allocation best.
I really like this one's load out. The AC fits nicely, the laser and missiles are solid and colourful back up. As thus I prefer it to its laser-burdened variants (as deadly as they may be).
Which really makes this one my favourite of all lvl1 55-tonners!!

This mech has the weapons profile for a skirmisher, yet lacks the ammo to really do the job well. I'd trade a HS for another ton of AC 5 ammo since thats the purpose I use it for most.
Its not really awe inspiring in battle though. More of a scout intimidator really.
