Overview:
    A design as ancient as the Wasp, the Stinger has gone relatively few modifications in it's
    history. A fairly successful scout mech, the Stinger became the debate during a class at a
    technical college. Following the developement of the LCT-4X Locust, the underclassmen
    decided to do their own design study. This time involving a Stinger. Donations were gathered
    and an old Stinger was received from a salvage yard on Solaris VII.

Capabilities:
    Using the money donated by the wealthy patrons and alumni of the college, the class was able
    to get their hands on some newer technology. Replacing the old engine with a larger XL
    engine, the class was able to increase ground speed to 148 kph. Also through the usage of
    some innovative venting systems, the Stinger was able to be propelled through the air for
    leaps of 270 meters or roughly the effective range of a medium laser. Stripping the burned
    out hulk of a medium laser in the right arm allowed for it's replacement with a medium pulse
    laser. The twin MG's, which were in good shape, were replaced with small lasers. The reason
    for that change was necessary because live rounds weren't allowed on campus. The Skeleton
    was replaced piecemeal by an endosteel frame. The incredible jumping ability of the STG-6X
    Stinger has given the design some nods from the alumni who have passed word of the design to
    the military.

Deployment:
    Only one STG-6X Stinger has been made. No more are expected to be built though the army
    brass has shown an interest in it's movement capabilities. It remains to be seen if the
    design is purchased by a manufacterer or just looked upon as a rarity and shelved. The board
    of trtustees has so far frowned upon this mech construction spree that has taken shape the
    past couple years but some of the alumni are nodding approval and taking notes.
