================================================================================================
Overview:
Built up from the framework of the Gladius medium hovertank, the Spatha gained five tons
over its predecessor, using that extra tonnage for a more diverse weapons array. This makes
the vehicle an even deadlier threat on the modern battlefield.

Capabilities:
Marian engineers replaced the older machine’s internal combustion engine with a fusion
core, and used the inherent power available from the fusion core to make the primary weapon
of the hovertank a Parti-Kill particle projection cannon. Duplicating the hitting power of
the original’s heavy autocannon, the PPC can reach out to even greater ranges. Although
this weapon is still locked into a forward-only firing arc, the engineers addressed this
concern by adding a small turret to the design, modified from that found on the J.Edgar
    hovertank.

Like that other tank, this turret mounts a central medium laser flanked by a pair of twin
racks of short-range missile launchers fee by a ton of reloads. Where the turret differed
from that other tank is that it also mounts a heavy flame projector in a co-axial position
to the laser. This flamer is fed by a two ton bay of fluid, providing the option of
    alternate fluid loads if needed.

Protecting the tank is 6.5 tons of heavy ferro-fibrous armor plate, securing it against hits
from even the heaviest autocannons from all directions, and both the turret and the front
glacis can absorb two Gauss rifle or heavy particle cannon hits without going internal.

Deployment:
The Spatha is currently seeing deployment in many units, most often as a lead hovertank in
units otherwise comprised of Gladius medium hovertanks.
