Replacing the "heavy" weapon of the original with a LRM-15 is a strange decision. And what about all the tiny launchers? Not a mech i would take.

Whiskey, tango, foxtrot? It's not so much that this Battlemaster variant is bad, heck, it's pretty interesting, but it's so poorly executed. 8 rounds for the LRM-15? Thanks for really limiting my main weapon there, chief. Meanwhile, you get an extra LRM-5 with a ton of ammo. You could ditch that for more LRM-15 ammo, and more SRM launchers if you felt like it.
Still, it's quick, well armored, and has decent weaponry. I just wonder why Steiner keeps giving assault 'Mechs LRM-15s with only 8 shots. (See also, ZEU-6S Zeus)
Other than the 8 shot thing, I don't have much against this. I tend to think that missile rack retrofits are interesting, if not usually the best use of a machine. Always good for keeping people off guard though.

No I can't take this design seriously. The designers probably wanted to install infernos, which used to be available only for SRM-2s, but even that I would rather drop the MGs from 1G and that would be it. The additional modifications are all pretty bad. As the other people, who reviewed this machine, already asked, so must I wonder why the 'Mech packs additional heat sinks, which it doesn't need. Two LRM launchers, one useless due to small size and the other due to the lack of ammo, can't make up for the lost PPCs and the fact that SRM-6 was replaced by two SRM-2s (one of them placed in arm that you usually want to use for punching). The armor and speed remain without any change, which is the only positive thing I see.

from a message board thread:
BLR-1S - HAHAHAHAHA! What WERE they smoking?! Ok, let's get the classifications over with. This is definitely no MISSILE BOAT, mounting a total of only 20 LRMS, in the form of two different sized launchers and some really strange "extreme lack of ammo"TM.
Basically, it still needs to get in close to hurt the enemy. Yes, it is a BRAWLER, too. The coverage weapons now have a longer range. But an average 12 points of damage arriving in a 5-4-3 grouping does not cause as much respect as a single 10-damage punch.
It now has two SRM-launchers, but they add up to less than the original. One is mounted instead of the MGs, to cover their lack. And also to defend its title as "Missilemaster" (*bows to mud*) No rear-mounted lasers. And talk about oversinked?!?!?!?! How does this need *more* heat sinks than the original?!?! The close-in weapons cause as much heat. Meaning that even with 18 HS, it would never feel anything, even in full move. Surely noone expects to use those LRMs once the fight gets close and personal?!
Arguably, this is the most tooth-less of the lot. But tell you what, even in its lunacy it is more inspired than the -1D.
I have one, it is an unexpected design on the board and the conversion was a hell of a lot of fun.

Another BLG variant. I use this as support in a lance or so with the BLG-1D. not a very good stand alone design to be sure. would run out of ammo before doing any real damage while the enemy closes. The SRMs and Med Lasers are good short range firepower. Once again, not designed for a standalone. Use in a support role. I prefer to ahve 2-3 BLG-1D's running ahead,a nd this one sitting back peppering with LRMs.
