Hot, hot, hot. This design has problems at both long and short range when it comes to venting heat, but at the same time, it carries loads of firepower. This is my personal favorite of the Archer family, despite the lighter armor, and heat problems. This Archer can REALLY pound the enemy, whether they are near or far, and ideally it won't be in the thick of the fighting, which means the lighter armor is less of a handicap. Get three of these, and something with plenty of SRMs for a lance of power.
Alternatively, you could replace the SRM-4s with LRM-5s and just switch off your firing every once in a while. This creates a fragile 'Mech that needs support up close, but helps stave off the heat issues. Not recommended, but it's a thought.
My final thought is that I'm just as happy to see the rear mounted lasers gone. I won't miss them.

The 2W Archer is a poor relative to 2R. It doesn't have the thick armor, which was one of the best assets the 2R has, it does nothing to improve heat management (it's even worse). And installs weapons which the 'Mech doesn't need that much. Technically it mimics the Crusader with ammo and without that thick armor...

Its a nice loadout certainly, but really for the archer it would be best to keep back from the enemy. Therefore the SRM's are a bit too much for point defence.
However, this can be used to your advantage, not many pilots would be expecting such a heavy close range loadout, especially if you keep it back from the brawl. That way you might just rip apart a stray light that thinks it can close and harass you.

Same shortrange firepower as the -2S, loss of the rear firing capability, same heatproblems for long and short range weapons now and a severe reduction of armor result in a rather bad variant of the Archer!

Surrendering 2 Medium lasers and 3 tons of armor for 2 SRM4's and their ammo is a tricky mod. The front facing firepower is now significant, and having SRMs around after the LRMs (presumably) have reduced your enemy's armor to slag is a solid approach. Heat management will be key (like it always is in an Archer) as will be making sure your ammo bins are empty. 25 rounds of SRM ammo is quite a bit, and it's in the CT too of all places. Well, not like many 3025 Mechs survive an ammo explosion, no matter where it's located.
Solid design, bit quirky, but when used right, you'll savage your opponent.
